FAQ Frequently asked questions
helpHow do I choose my first tea?
Start with 10 grams of two or three different kinds — say, a red Dian Hong, a white Bai Mu Dan and a jasmine tea. After a few brews it becomes clear which direction to go next.
How should I store tea?
In an opaque, airtight tin, in a cupboard, away from coffee and spices. Dry leaf picks up other smells very easily. Not in the fridge and not on a windowsill.
Can I taste tea at the shop?
Come by at aleja Grunwaldzka 69 in Gdańsk, Monday to Friday, 10:00–18:00. We will help you choose if you do not know where to start.

Red tea or black tea? Why the names disagree
On our shelves sits “Golden Monkey red tea” — filed under “Black”. That is not a shop in disarray; it is four hundred years of misunderstanding between China and the West. Why does one tea have two names? The Chinese name teas after the colour of the liquor: in the...
White tea: what it tastes like and how to brew it
The least processed of all teas: the leaves wither, dry — and that is it. No roasting, no rolling, no forcing. Which is why white tea tastes the way a meadow smells in late June: of hay, honey and flowers. What makes it different? Green tea leaves are pan-fired right...
What is a gaiwan and how to use it
A bowl, a lid and a saucer. Three parts, no strainers, no electronics — and yet for four hundred years the gaiwan has remained the most universal tea vessel ever invented. In China it brews everything: from delicate greens to dark teas aged for years. Here it still counts as...
